We are putting after market a/c in my dads '72 but wanting to run it through the factory vents. It's a non a/c car and we can get most of the vent parts, BUT the vent hose connection backing plates. The plates are rectangle front side like the vents are and round on the other side the size of the hoses. I might be wrong on these but thats what i seen on other a/c units. Any information on these (description if i'm not right) and where to get these would be a great help. Tried to find some from anybody changing over to after market vents or removing a/c but having no luck. Please Help.

Have you posted in the "parts wanted" section?

If your dads 72 is a non-A/C car, wouldn't the vents be below the dash or are you cutting holes in the dash on the passengers side? As you know, the drivers side vent is in the dash bezel and the hose for the aftermarket A/C clips on without any problems.

Which system are you running?

It's a non A/C car. Yeah we are cutting out everything needed. You can buy the outside chrome vents, but not the backing plates that hold vent faces and what hoses connect to. Atleast I haven't found them anywhere yet.

Here a few pic's of the A/C I added to my non A/C 74. The kit was from Classic and they gave templets to to put stock like vents that came with the kit. they also gave you new vents for the defrost as well. uses the stock levers also. work good I need to put some insulation under the dash but on 95 degree day it will stay in the upper 70's in the car

It's alittle bit of work to cut the vent's but I did it with a cut-off wheel and a saw blade. the next one I do i found an air powered body saw will work great.
