I just checked my 72 Nova project car, the vin# 5th digit shows D which would be a 250 6 cyl car. But then I checked the cowl tag and it shows a 11427 code which is a V-8 car. The cowl tag matches the colors, year etc, and both look original and not tampered with. The car itself came as a roller, but had the V-8 motor mounts, and the V-8 exhaust manifolds which are factory clearanced for the steering box, and the exhaust connected. The rear leaf springs are the multi-leaf with the 8.5 rear, drum brakes all around. This was a Willow Run Car, question is did the factory make mistakes like that?

Thanks,
Mitch

Oh, and I have been looking for the build sheet but so far no luck under the rear seat bottom.

Mitch, for whatever reason, the Fisher Body tags on these cars all said they were V/8, whether they were or not. The tags were stamped by Fisher early in the build process, before it was even known what engine would go into the car. The body tag has no legal status. The VIN tells the truth.
