There should be a purple wire under the steering column. It's a big one! It goes to a neutral safety switch on the column. Cut the purple wires. Extend them back to your new neutral safety switch. Put spade connectors on both end. Adjust the switch so it only turns on in park and neutral. Good luck!

No issue, the wires are low amperage that active a starter solenoid, the solenoid carries the high current, not the wires in the starter circuit.
