My son wants to give me a shifter for my 72 it is a late fathers day present but I am undecided on which shifter . I think I have it narrowed down to two the B&M pro stick or the B&M pro ratchet.Car is in body shop now getting painted so I am trying to get my parts list together to put car back together and get it road ready.I am not sure of the difference between these two shifters or which one would be better for a weekend cruiser .I am open to all comments and suggestions, pro's and con's of each shifter, Car has bucket seats

Don't know enough to speak about differences. I am using the Quick Silver shiftier in mine and am very happy with it.

I have used both.

IF your tranny is NOT a reverse shift tranny go with the Pro-Stick, the Pro-Ratchet is a P.I.T.A. to use on the street.

HOWEVER, if your tranny IS a reverse shift tranny you don't have too many choices. You will have to go with the Pro-Ratchet.

PLUS the Pro-Stick costs less than the Pro-Ratchet.
I had a Pro-ratchet 2, I liked it. :2cents: took a little to get used to though

it is a forward pattern tranny
I have a Pro Rachet......it works good. I don't find it to be a problem. Just like shifting a motorcycle...one gear at a time, up or down:yes: Pretty hard to mess up with this type of shifter.
With a quick silver shifter does it have 4 detents also the pro ratchet and pro stick included, if you put it in low does it move 3 positions forward to drive and is there a indicator showing all 4 positions forward or does first and second gear stay in the same position? Looking at B&M's website the quick silver maybe more street friendly because it includes neutral saftey switch and back up switch.Sorry for all the questions I am not familiar with after market shifters.
The Quicksilver has a pin to be removed if using on a 4 speed auto overdrive transmission. It also comes with different gear indicator windows depending on 3 or 4 speed.
the B&M mega shifter .. is a sweet shifter... has detents for all 4 gears.. neutral safety and reverse switches... and has nice look to it with the T handle...:yes::yes:

I believe all B&M shifter KITS come complete with ALL the necessary hardware and switches.

You do have to order the proper shifter (by part number) for the 700R4 and it will come equipped to operate the overdrive properly through all its gears.

My current Pro-Ratchet came with the neutral and backup light switches.
