I know if you use the column shift you lose 1st gear with the OD trans, so my question is, is this because the column shift arm at the bottom, does not have enough range of movement to accommodate 4 forward gears or is it the internal thing in the column?

I have heard by using this:

the aluminum bracket gets in the way of the header tube. In my senario, I used the floor shifter and all is well. I would rather deal with one hole vice trying to figure out which linkage set-up would work.

How about using the linkage from a G-Body car??
