I understand that these are quite large but is a floor pan cutout 100% necessary for one of these to fit in a first or second gen Chevy II? Asking for a friend

Absolutely. Looked into this already, just not worth it.....IMO..

Yep... I had to notch out a bit of the floor to get my 4L60e to fit at the cooler line connections.

I've got the 4L65 and it barely fits.
