Finally got the engine and trans back in the car! This is the fun part of the resto when you can see the car going back together and it starts looking like a nova again, after months of staring at body shell! I start my third job today so I can get enough money to pay for the smog system:D

Someone just sold some "0" covers on ebay for 125.00. The last pair I got came off a 68 chevelle with a 307 . I was told the "0"'s were L-79 only, Dont know if thats entirely true. I think it was a first year with holes in the covers and they put the o there so the covers were in the right place on the line and the first year with the PCV going in the valve covers.

Got carb back looks good! When I got the car it had a 7028117 carb on it. I had what is correct for a L-79 which is the 7028229 and had it rebuilt. I looked up the 117 carb and it fits a 68 396/350hp manual trans nova. I know anything can happen at the factory maybe they were out of the 229's and just put on something close. Anyway I have an extra carb now.

Looks good. Just curious are you going for 100% factory correct, or just a nice driver resto? I was just wondering because of the gold cad plated throttle parts on the carb. They look really good this way, but I htink they are supposed to be silver cad. Just wondering.

I was trying to get as close to the factory look as possible. You may be right about the silver color, I think the gold looks better and makes it look better and flashier, although possibly incorrect I will leave it like it is. The air cleaner covers it up and you cant see it anyway with it on. :)
