So my 16 year old saved all summer and bought a 68 Nova. We were wondering why the emblem on the dash says Custom? Thanks

I have a 68 with custom features.

Does your 68 have a "Custom" small emblem in the right side of your dash?

If so, I think this is what your car came with

RPO ZJ1– CUSTOM INTERIOR (31,345 produced)
Equipment (used in addition to or in place of standard equipment)
Interior
Front bench seat cushion with 1.75" foam pad
Bright pedal pad trim
Right front door jamb switch for dome lamp operation
Glove box lamp
Bright rear view mirror support
Instrument panel "Custom" emblem
Deluxe steering wheel with a horn blowing insert (N30)

wef218... welcome to the nova site. its going to take some time for that grin to disappear. so he is 16 an driving a 52 year old car, cool. i just thought it was 68 i got my first car so if my car had be 52 years old then i'd have been driving a 1916 car. what a difference. enjoy the cruise.

He is a good kid! He’s Got it tore apart in my shop right now replacing the trunk pan. I’m teaching him how to weld and we just did the brakes. Now he’s talking about an LSX motor. Boy he has a lot of lawns to mow this summer ?

This is correct. Apparently, this same emblem appeared on non SS coupes with the bucket seat option.

wef . . . . that's a cool picture .
and, FYI - - --- - look at your front bumper - - look at those "park - lights" - - - - just a later type front bumper ( 68 & 69 both had smaller front lights ) .
Really not a big deal - - any style fits ( from 68 to 72 ) . . . . . nice & straight looking ride .

Also, some very good Nova info over here : http://rmcavoy.freeshell.org/nova_parts.html

have fun . . . . . jim
