I know how broad of a question this is, but what kind of power would I need to the wheels to eclipse tens in the quarter mile? I know it is mostly a guessing game considering factors like gearing, traction, weight, and driver ability. I would like some educated guesses on an N/A motor and numbers. Thanks in advance!

Average weight of 3500 lbs, I agree 550-575 hp is a good number to shoot for. My car when first built with less than top of the line stuff went 11.20's at 3675 lbs with 540 dynoed hp. As I progressed with things, it went 10.30's at 3360 lbs with about 625 hp. Todays stuff is much better and chassis parts available make it much easier.

Wow, nice numbers 1974nova! I checked curb weight of my car and it should be right at 3,000 if I don't run accessories and drop an LM7 in. My brother works at a scrap yard and I will hit the scales as soon as she is road worthy!

My '68 went 9.80 @ 140 at a D/A of 8600', this was N/A of course at 3400 lbs. The car was lazy due to the nitrous gearing / cam / and converter. With todays off the shelf market, I believe high 9's are fairly easy to come by, $$$ willing, but the savy shopper can do that pretty cheap in the grand scheme of things.

440 rwhp 3300lbs with driver 3 pedals been 11.2X on a good track DA 3200' lots of tnt nights working on the suspension changing to a Auto and a good stall it better run 10.999. You just need to put together a good overall combo and not just build a hi hp engine

Whatever I build will have room to grow for sure. I'll run a LM7 with LS1 parts for a while so I have time to get everything else in line.
