68-74 rear sway bar install

Hey guys,

Took a look at installing the rear sway bars (addco) yesterday, the instructions are pretty vague and don't exactly detail where to drill the holes for the frame bracket. Could anyone share a picture of their install or let me know the correct location for these holes. I don't really want to drill incorrectly, and end up turning my frame into swiss cheese.

Thanks,

Kev

I just finished putting an ADDCO rear bar on my 79 Nova. It should be similar to yours. To locate where to drill the holes for the brackets, I installed the bar in position on the axle housing (being careful to have it properly centered), attached the links to the bar and to the bracket then swiveled it up to the frame rail to mark the holes for drilling. I tried to keep the links vertical. This method seemed to work fine. Hope this makes sense. Sorry no pictures.

I had my dad help hold the bar in place while i marked the frame for the holes. It made things a LOT easier. I'm sure you could do it by yourself though.

I snapped some pics of where the end links meet the frame. Hope they help.

Good luck!

Thanks for the responses guys. I just ended up lining it up with my dad (very handy) :) and then spot welded in place, and brought it to a shop to have good solid beads on each side welded in so it would be as solid a possible. If you want pics lemme know.

Only problem I see with welding is how do you replace the bolt or top bushing if needed? If you run the bolt the opposite way, it will be to long and hit the frame rail itself. The bolt does move around some so it will need clearance.
Double threaded bolt. Go down to bolts plus and pick it up for less than replacement.

Could also get a stronger bolt as well...
