I decided to do the plug wires on my 283 motor and things got out of hand. I was told that this was the original engine from a past owner that had the car for many years. The person who bought the car from him was not convinced and sold the car to me. So here is a bunch of numbers that may help me get as close to the bottom of it as I can seeing that there is no definate way to tell with a 67' 283.

The cars partial build sheet states

There are some #s at the bottom not in the blocks that state

I think it looks pretty good that it is the orininal, any comments appreciated.

6367Rick, my 66 had the original 283 when I bought it and I'd say that yours appears legit. Are you gonna drop in something else or rebuild it?

I was kind of banking on the engine being original, I knew that it was impossible to have a "matching number car" and the guy I bought it from didnt realize that they didnt punch the non performance engines in 67' with VINs.
I plan on cleaning it up and undoing the overspray. The powerglide will be mothballed for a 700R4 and power disk brakes will be added. This should make a good clean cruiser that is safe and can travel.:yes:
