How wide are the Wheels?

For a 7 inch, 4.75 is good. But I doubt a 255 fits a 7 inch. For an 8 inch you need the half inch in the backspace, 5.25.

that back tire 275 40 19 has a diameter of 27.7 inches. my last tire i had on a stock 66 rear was 235 60 15 an that tire was 26.1 inches an that wasa pretty tight fit all around on top an side. that's a 1.6'' difference between the two tires listed an that is also going to raise your rear around 3/4''. the revolutions per mile will be 752 were a 235 is 804 so think about the change in speedo reading. this is just some info to think about.

I hate to break it to ya, but that isn't going to work. I have CBR front end , stock sheet metal, running 18x8 with 5.2 backspace on 235x40s. Out back on the same rim, 245x45. My rear end is shortened and had leafs pulled in and it's a tight fit.

Ok I was hoping but I didn’t think they would fit either. I guess I’ll have to pass on them. Thanks for the help.

Not to hijack the thread and not to look too dumb but can anyone PM me the “original” size of the tires & wheels for a 1966 SS. Mine didn’t have a spare or anything else for that matter!

So I’m thinking of getting a set of rims and tires from Summit racing. I would like either 17x7” or 18x7”. What would be a good size tire to make these fit and what backspacing? CBR front and stock rear.

Stock tires 6.95 x 14 - 4 ply (8 ply rating) Rayon Tubeless Blackwall. Rim size - 14 x 5J. 5 lug.

On my 67, stock rear - 225 45R 17, CBR Front with GM Disc Brakes - 215 45R 17. Rims - B/G Old School. I don't remember the backspacing.

I’ve seen possibly 4 or 4.5 on backpacking that people use on some wheels. It’s hard to say.

If you do get a chance to figure out the backspacing let me know. I’m still trying to figure out what to get.

I haven't taken the winter cover off yet. Rains every dad gum Saturday. Forecast same for this weekend. Maybe sometime next week I can get it on the lift.
