I am rebuilding my '66 vent windows and need advice. It looks like I have to pop some rivets out to rebuild them. Is that true? Are certain rivets preferred for removal? My cast chrome pieces have some tiny pits. Can those be rechromed without taking out a second mortgage? Are there repops out there of OEM quality?

I have found a few threads on here but none of the links seem to work anymore.

I just did a rebuild on my Vent windows. There are many many posts on this site about this subject. You need to do a search.

Johnny ( the FLYER ) is a member here. He has a complete set of instructions and pictures on "How To rebuild Vent windows".

There are two different locations with Rivets. The frame has two and the pivot point has one.

I have a friend that owns a glass shop. He has the special rivets and the tool to replace the single rivet where the vent frame pivots. So I drilled that one rivet out. Once it was removed I move to the adjustment nut on the bottom of the vet window. I then pulled the frames apart.
