I have repop rears on my car and they fit well every where except at the front where it rolls around the rocker.I have not seen originals so the may fit the same way.I can send you pictures if you would like.My fronts are original GM
This is the leading edge of the wheel well closest to the door.
You can see on side fits well and one fits like crap.About 1/8 or more gap and it hangs down below the rocker
These repops are maybe 15 years old the could have changed. The car has all of its original sheet metal and had no repairs in the area. There are a lot of irregularities on these old cars so they my fit some better and some worse. My car had holes from the original moldings and the new ones were off slightly. Not an issue if you drill you own holes.Fitment in all other places is fine.
^^^ Couldn't you bend the curve inward slightly on that molding so that when it's mounted it'll hug the bottom of the fender opening? It wouldn't take much to close that up.
You would have to pie cut the flange and that would be uglier that the gap.The molding is very rigid in this direction
