I'm betting there's a ton of pits in that groove. The black paint covers them up for pics, but makes them look worse in reality. Expensive fix if you want to do it.

Which is me; the pitting is the same thru out the top piece, no worse in the grooved area.

I'll sell it at spring Carlisle, thought someone may want it before then.

Yes, it's a fair price for shifter and console. Also it's a 1965 only console with the longer nose.
