Like the amatuer that I am I didn't check to see if I could remove the fill plug prior to pulling the diff cover; it is frozen. I now need one with a fill plug. I've found several replacements but not one with a built in plug. Anyone know where I can get one?

A couple really cheap-o looking chrome ones turned up on a quick Google search, but I'm not sure that anyone makes one in plain steel with a fill plug. I've never seen one and I'm not sure that I'd trust the cheap-o chrome ones from Ebay sellers. An 8.5 cover is the same as an 8.2 cover.

The aluminum bearing support covers that are popular these days come with a fill plug on the cover if that's the look you're going for. I like mine.

Maybe you could take the car/rear to a differential shop and have them fight with it. :)
