64 Instrument redo questions

I want to redo my instrument cluster and have a few questions what paint did you use on your needles. What did you clean it with that wouldn't hurt the faces. Would greasing my speedo cable stop my needle from bouncing around? And how do you get the back cover off of the clock It doesn't work and I saw on a video it could be bad contacts. Thanks for any advice you can offer.

I ended up using some orange acrylic paint from local Michael's to paint the needles. Since I installed an aftermarket rpm gauge and the orange was brighter and lighter then the 55 year old speedometer.

Greasing up the cable might stop the bounce, Btw make sure you oil the speedo in the back also. If that dont work check your speedo gear down at the transmission, you might have teeth missing. Now for paint for the needles, check out the colors on nail polish small and cheap!
