out giving it a thorough cleaning and a fresh coat of paint. at the same
time fresh brakes and hardware, leaf spring pads and new eye bushings.

I had a 56 rear end in my 40 coupe and had trouble with the axles popping out of the housing. Seemed to be a weakness because a friend had the same issues. Tried new axles, retainer and finally just put a spot weld next to the retainer so it would not pop any more Worked fine and put 200,000 miles on it that way.

Looks great! One word of advice if you have some decent HP you may want to ditch the T studs and switch to U bolts for the spring perches. I've seen way too many diffs get trashed from the perches ripping off and causing hairline cracks in the housings that will puke oil like crazy.
