I have recently sent off my stereo to be rebuilt to have am/fm with an aux input for an mp3/ipod and now Im needing to round up the front speaker and the back speaker to replace the originals. I dont want to modify the dash or rear window to do anything more than what was originally set up if possible.

Judging by the bracket that holds the original speaker under the dash though Im pretty sure something will have to be modified cause its got a box shaped reciever for the speakers back magnet(?).

According to the fella doing the work for me it need to be a minimum of 100 watts peak for the speakers and Ill have to run 18 gauge dual speaker wire.

Heres a link to his site, Ive seen others on this site use him and have good results.

For the front speaker I saw this one at Paddocks site

Anyone know of any other places to get a speaker for the dash and rear window that will need limited modification if any?

Thanks! Looks like there is going to be a modification for the front speaker bracket since on the 63 its designed for a block shape hole where the speaker rests against the bracket. Or were you able to use that bracket when you installed?

Hey Jimbo
If I haven't confused you enough I just realized recommendations of dual voice coil which is different to 2way or 3way that can also be 2way or 3way I think the Paddocks are a single speaker dual voice coil ( 2 speaker connections)2way one speaker for lows and mids and two seperate channel tweeters for highs.Sorry

Did you modify the original bracket? If so what did you have to do?
it was easy...

if i remember right.the new speaker simply rests on top of the original speaker bracket.

the magnet on the new speaker was much larger in diameter, but flat enough to stay on top of the bracket......the magnet no lober needs to stick through.

dont give it much thought! get the speaker i reccomend and go for it!

you will see once you have everything in front of you.
