I have a '63 that I put a new tank & sending unit in. My gas gage bounces about a quarter tank in each direction while driving. Other than that, the gage works as it should letting me know when it's low or full.

Any ideas as to what would cause that?

Thanks for your input.

There is nothing wrong with it. The early cars did not have a dampening circuit to steady the reading so as the fuel sloshes around it affects the reading. The new vehicles have circuitry that not only prevents that from happening but the reading will not change if fueled up with the key on until the key is cycled off and then on again.

Thanks Philip - thought it might be a faulty ground. Didn't know that about the early gages - thanks again.
