So I picked up my first convertible nova. Its a nice car but noticed today that I have like a half inch gap between the top of the window and the convertible top. The top looks new but is there some sort of bushing or rubber that goes in this space? Im assuming if it does it would go on the top and not the actual window. Any idea?

Pictures would be crucial to see exactly what you are talking about.

There is a rubber gasket that fits the underside of the convertible top frame.

There is some adjustment to the top itself.

There is some adjustment to the side windows themselves, at least a little.

Show us what's going on.

Here's a few pictures of the passenger door. The driver side is the same.

Pictures would be crucial to see exactly what you are talking about.

Ah, pictures. Now I get it.

GM convertible tops from the era have a braided wire with a clip attached to one end that sits in the edge of the top when installed. Your top might have them, but they aren't adjusted, or it may have been installed without them. Either way, these cables, when tightened, pull down the outer edges of the top.
