My '66 SS has power-steering and I am going to keep the original style of steering. However, I noticed a few people carry "faster" steering boxes (GM Classics, Summit, Classic Industries, etc.) with 1 turn less lock to lock. This looks like a good idea with the brand names of the suppliers as being Lares, OER, and "unnamed" supplier(s). In these cases, the boxes are NEW, not rebuilt but I have no idea as to their origin (China, Taiwan, USA, etc.). There is also the possibility of having my original steering box rebuilt (maybe they can achieve the same faster steering results?).
Does anyone have any experience with these brands and "quicker steering boxes" in general? The most expensive would be to rebuild my old box vs. buying a reproduction version.
Please let me know your experiences or musings!
