those two formulas aren't equal. The only difference in Pi (3.14) and .7854. So they won't have the same result. The pi equation is wrong. use the other one.
Oops... mistake!

PI*Radius of bore squared * stroke * # cyl

3.14159265*(4.060/2)=2.030 squared = 4.1209 * 3.48 *8 = 360.836184

Other method:
4.060 x 4.060 x 3.484 x .7854 x 8 = 360.83702823168

Diff between the two formulas = .001 or so for this particular bore/stroke/cyls. :)

Now that makes more sense. .7854 is about 1/4 of pi so it works out the same becuase your multiplying the diameter or bore by itself before dividing 2 twice or dividing by 4, so in sense you have to divide by 4 somewhere and they do it on the pi or 3.14.

When you square the bore you get the area of a square (w X L). When you multiply that times .7854 you get the area of a circle. When you multiply that times the stroke (height) you get the area of a cylendar. When you multiply that times the # of Cyls, you get the displacement of the engine.

Whe you use the PI formula you get the area of a circle by taking the radius R, square it and multiply it by PI.

Told him 360ci was as close to a ford product as i will ever get.
If he has a 360 in his Ford I don't think you'll have much trouble beating him. When I drove for a F**D dealer's parts department, we had 2 pickups, one with a 360" V-8, the other with a 300" 6 cylinder--the 6 would easily outrun the V-8 turd!

True dat not really woired about a ford small block:sleep: but he is a big block guy. won't touch it unless its a 460 or bigger.

yep everybody knows pi are round and cornbread is square!
Not if you bake it in yer black cast iron frying pan, like it should be done, then shes a Pi :) JR

Ok, I couldnt help it, Ill go further only cause I love cornbread LOL Heat the oven to 400. Heat the black pan to hot. Mix up yer cornbread mixture, use what you like, Im a simple Jiffy dude myself. When the black pan is hot, toss in some room temp (so it melts fast and doesnt burn) butter, (YEAH butter, back off :) Pour the mix ontop of the butter and toss in the oven for 25 minutes. DONE. If yer old school its breakfast and you have a glass of milk (prolly buttermilk) there to do the deed. Geeze, is it breakfast yet LOL
