Has anyone built a inline six (292) for drag racing? What kind of Horse Power would it make and would you have to use a turbo? I think you can get to 300 Cid. Was thinking it would be different, I know the 6's have a lot of torque.

I did a minor buildup of a 250. It does cost a lot of money but I did learn alot. It can be done. I wouldn't do it again but if you really want to, don't let anyone try to stop you.

theres a couple websites out there that sells stuff to hot rod your 6 cyl (ive looked into it)

Its expensive.

if you wanted to have a rape ape 6cyl I would do a turbo.

I have a 292 in a 63. The car is all steel and weighs about 3100lbs. The motor has no nitrous or turbo. It ran 12.6's at close to sea level and cost more than GM crate 383. To me it is a lot more fun than a sbc, but it is not cost effective if you are worried about et vs $$. Building a turbo or nitrous motor would get the power cheaper, but power to power the sbc is cheaper.

There was a guy at my home track about a year or two ago that was running a 6 cylinder in a 68 Nova. Not sure what he had dome to it, but I know that it was naturally aspirated and was running 14s.

Its not to expensive to turbo a inliner , here is my 250cui. It makes 530hp and 588flbs at 21psi. Its almost stock inside
