I want to thank Ben for putting the event together.. It was a nice meet up in the park. Philip, Bob, Rob, Jim, Gerry, and I were present at the park and I had a great time conversing with all of you..

Jim gave me a ride in his way cool 69 that has a lot of his own personal touches. The T5 works really well with the 230 6 cylinder and it has a very smooth operation.. The 6 cylinder engine kinda surprised me. Felt pretty strong compared to the 194 my 64 had.. Nice work Jim..

I had a great time..!

Any pictures?
No pictures, from here . . . just " light rain " ; but still way FUN , just being there.

Felt pretty strong compared to the 194 my 64 had.. Nice work Jim..
Thank you , Joe . Plus, my car = does run really good (I keep telling people -) , but great to hear from someone = (other than just my crazy , brain cells) .
Then, Great too meet you, after 'talking for years' , too finely see "the real person" . lol

Also, kinda sad - that we had only 8 people there - - and, most of those guys were not from th' Phoenix area (only Rob & Ben were local) .
Oh well - - ya missed out on those 'Hot-dogs' & pie' .
I made it home before Diana returned from Church; and with just light rain (no snow) - - plus, it was a really good cruise for my 69 .

next year, can't wait !

THANK you Ben , for doing this , again.

Hi Fellows - -

This trip to Phoenix , was good for my car .
That being said - - it was a good trip to again check my fuel mileage : running my Holley '390 CFM carb & my L 6 engine' , T 5 o.d trans & 3.08 gears .

Total trip , down & back : 234.2 miles

gas : Chino Valley down to PHX & back to Wickenburg (gas, stop) - - 149.7 miles on 6.714 gal . = 22.29 mpg . I'm happy with that - - and that was going : 60 / 75 mph avg.
. . . . 70 mph , was running about 1,950 RPM's (in - 0.72 - o.d.) .

gas : Wickenberg to Chino Valley (Safeway , gas stop) - - - - - - - - - - - 84.5 miles on 4.010 gal. = 21.07 mpg . I'm even more happy with that = going 'up - hill' : 60 / 75 mph , avg.

. . . . "I say - - 'going up-hill' because = "Surprise, Az. elevation = 1,175' " - - Prescott "Iron Springs Road elevation" = 6,073' . " (Chino Valley, Az. elevaction is 4,770' ) .. . . .
and, I WAS gunning - it , going up-hill .

there ya' go .

Ben, thanks again for putting the BBQ together. The weather wasn't great, but getting together with friends that we don't see nearly often enough made the trip worthwhile! Getting to put a few hundred miles on my Nova was just icing on the cake.
I took only one picture, and not even a good one, because it only has the cars in it, not the people.

Rob's car on the left, my green '69 next to Jim's white '69. In the background, far left, the tail end of Philip's very nice Chevelle wagon is visible.

If just cruising you'll be okay & will loose power a bit from off the line & inproved lower higher speeds. As stated 350 tranny was paired with the 2.56 gears due to 350s stating ratio. I have a stock 63 SS with the 308 gears. Love crusing at 55-65 mph & let the people admire...Most of all ...Enjoy the ride! Unless upgraded suspension...you have to slow down for the curves or hold on to the sreering wheel. Lol
