I'm keeping my eyes open for a 4L60 tranny to use with my LS swap. I am finding tons of them from trucks, specifically 4x4s. Will these trannys work in my '64 Chevy II?

You need a 4x2 trans. You might be able to find a shop that will take a 4x4 core on a rebuilt 4x2 trans, otherwise they'd have to order all of the parts for the tail to convert it.

Think I'll stay away from the 4x4 trannys then. It's gonna be a while before I am going to be putting it in the car so I'll just keep my eyes open for either a 4x2 truck or a car. Thank you for the info.

Stay away from 4L60’s that come from the smaller vehicles like blazers and smaller cars, they have less friction materials in the 3/4 clutch pack and are subject to quicker failure. If you plan on building it before you install it, then they make good cores.
