4 speed install help please

1973 hatchback crate 350 Richmond gear super t-10. removed tranny to replace clutch. fought the cross member a lot on the way out.

Wondering if anyone has replaced a tranny and then installed the cross member?

If that's not possible, oh well, Ill be twistin and turning the tranny and sliding the cross member around to get it in.

Yes support the engine with a floor jack and install the trans. Then put the crossmember back in.

I on a two post lift. I plan to install tranny, support the tail shaft with an adjustable deadman then beat cross member in place.

do you mean support tranny vice engine above?

I remember doing this 3 or four times in like 1979 helping my brother and friends, both auto automatic and manual and fighting the cross member every time, but cant remember which way worked best.

I think you are telling me my plan will work.
