there are smaller diameter units that can be used... but if a 168 tooth flywheel is desired then the '621 (or scattershield) would be what you want...
not really... it has the large bearing retainer opening... no, that's the incorrect bell housing...This bell housing will work as well.

Given Russ' username and sig this is kind of unnecessary but what he said is true. There are other 168t bellhousings out there, but the 621 would be correct. The "621", non Gbody "697" and "444" are all 168 tooth flywheel bellhousings. The "621" would be "factory correct" for your car with a 168 tooth. A casting # 3840383 or # 3858403 can be used with a 153 tooth flywheel.

I don't give a flip about being correct on this oneGiven Russ' username and sig this is kind of unnecessary but what he said is true. There are other 168t bellhousings out there, but the 621 would be correct.
For the money you'll spend on 621, buy a used scatter shield and be done for good!:yes:I don't give a flip about being correct on this one
However I DO want a trouble free install and result.....
Some of these have the larger hole in the back...(larger than 4-7/8") and I have read here that that makes a difference....
The darn 621's are just too expensive....
Will all 3 of these be a direct bolt on with my 72...?The "621", non Gbody "697" and "444" are all 168 tooth flywheel bellhousings.
