Took my 64 nova out for its first ride this year. Was running fine and then started popping out the mufflers. Last year it did the same thing and I had to replace the 4-Pin Ignition Modules. Did not have another issue all season here in Michigan. What could be causing this issue. I have a new dizzy and all new wires - coil and plugs installed last year. Could it be the fact I am still running with a voltage reg.

I assume you are using an HEI distributor since you mentioned that you have a 4 pin module.
Are you running a full voltage (non-resistor) wire from an "Ignition ON" source to the BAT terminal of your HEI? This wire should also be 10-12 gauge.
What brand of module and coil are you currently using?
When you replaced the coil, did you also install/reinstall the grounding strap that is connected to one of the coil hold-down bolts?
Did you recheck your initial timing? Since you installed a new distributor... you may not have fully tightened the distributor hold-down clamp and the distributor may have rotated.

What your initial timing is set to?
How much mechanical advance are you getting and at what RPM is it "all in"?
How many degrees of vacuum advance are you getting and is your vacuum advance canister connected to a timed/ported vacuum source?... or a "full time" manifold vacuum source?

Wire running to dizzy is 10 gage with 50000 volt coil. The module I got came with the dizzy and my backup was from advance auto and not sure of the brand. Advance is set to a timed/ported on the carb and is all in at about 3000 rpm. I will check today to make sure I ran a ground wire from dizzy to ground.
