Anybody know roughly the mpgs a stock early to mid sixties Chevy II got with the inline 250? I'm trying to figure out if there is a significant mpg advantage over a small block for a daily driver.

Thanks,
Dan

If you put a genIII vortec engine with an overdrive in there you could get 25mpg and have 300-something horsepower to boot...;) Probably better gas mileage than that.

I have owned a few, and 14-16 MPG on the L-6 was pretty common.

I don't think there will be a significant MPG difference if you run a 350/350 combo. However, you will notice a power boost.

MPG can be increased by reducing the RPM through rear gears or overdrive transmissions.

I'm getting 17 combined highway/city with the 250 in the 69, totally stock, except the MSD ignition. Auto, TH350 tranny.
