Building a 355 for my Nova and need to know if this is a good cam for what I have. Or a cam suggestion.

.30 over flat top pistons
Stock cast crank
487x GM heads - 1.94/1.50 heads - no porting
Edelbrock Performer 2101 intake
Carter AFB 625 CFM
Stainless block hugger headers
350C THM Tranny with cooler
Stock 3.08 read end
26"x19" Jegs 2 core alum Radiator

The cam I'm looking at is a Lunati, it says largest cam you can use with a stock TC. Would the stock valve springs work OK? I don't want a race car, just want it to lobe alittle and run decent

355 build

I think you will be ok my buddy just put a summit 465. 488 cam in his 350 chevy with no stall and stock springs, works ok with a slight lope his heads are crappy 624 heads i think yours are better how ever if it was me id go with the 488.488 cam i think that cam calls for a 3000 stall it be more fun of a car as a matter of fact thats what i have in my 62 project nova with the 487x heads, but its only a temp mtor till i build my 420 sml blk, some of the guys on this site say that combo in my nova should get my nova in the mid to low 12 sec range, good luck what ever you choose..

Not going to work real well with your rear gear or stock convertor. Look for something in the 1000 - 5500 rpm operating range.

The Lunati 60101 would be a good one.

Perfect Street Rod cam. Has slightly noticeable idle, works with stock converter, A/C.

Advertised Duration (Int/Exh): 256/262
Duration @ .050 (Int/Exh): 213/219
Gross Valve Lift (Int/Exh): .454/.468
LSA/ICL: 112/108
Valve Lash (Int/Exh): Hyd/Hyd
RPM Range: 1000-5500

I have that cam in my engine, runs beautifully. When it says slightly noticeable idle they really mean slightly noticeable. Sounds almost like a stock idle.

I have the 60103, it idles fairly smooth too, but runs great with the 3.73 gears and manual trans. A choppy idle sounds good but the overlap will kill all the low end power.

This is a great street cam.

It's got a smooth idle with a very slight lope, but with the 3.08's it's a dog off the line especially with the M20's tall first gear. With a lower rear gear it will perform much better.

I'm very happy with this cam. I know it's one step above the one you have listed, but just lettin' you know it's very streetable.
