i want to put in a turbo transmission behind a stout street engine 350. im not sure how to go .i see some listed on craigslist staing lock -up and non- lockup. what does this mean and what will i need?thanks

a lock up th350 is a newer version of the th350 it is controlled by a computer the non lock up th350 is an older version and is what most people use due to the fact there is no computer control hope this helps good luck .... if your motor is pretty darn stout i would suggest getting a built th350 ( one with good internals like red alto clutches and koleene steels , better direct clutch drum and intermediate sprag/element , kevlar band , deep sump aluminum pan etc... )

Lock-up refers to the torque converter. A lock-up converter has a hydraulic clutch inside and in top gear at low load the converter locks up to eliminate slip, lower the engine RPM and save fuel.

And make sure you get a th350 that was behind a v8. The 6 cylinder trannys had less clutches
