i would think a few of you guys have experimented with these ratio's on the street.. are 4.10's practical for hwy driving with a 700 r4

IMHO, yes.. i love the 4.10 gear with my TH350.. :yes:

3.73 and 4.10's are both ok if you are using the od, since your 700 has a deep 1st gear for take off youll be happier with 3.73's all around.

Even with the Th350 like mine big difference between a 4.10 & a 3.73 for street driving!

I would go with the 3.73 gear if you have an 8.2 10 bolt. The 3.73 has a bigger diameter pinion gear and will be a touch stronger.
On the freeway its about a 9% jump in rpm from 3.73 to 4.10's. 2000 rpm vs. 2180 rpm.
Another thing to consider is how well your car runs at low rpm? Sometimes you end up with a lumpy engine with a big cam and it wont run at 2000 rpm down the freeway in OD with a lock up converter. you might need the 4.10's

I've got a 700r4 -410s -275 /30 20 in tires and I turn about 2200 rpms at 75 mph.I'm very satisfied with the way it pulls in the first three gears and then it settles down and cruises at between 70-75 with out killing the motor.
