250/6 starting problem

Got in the 72 after a couple months today. The car wont fire and after cranking for awhile gas comes literally pouring out the top of the carb. Note this was just cranking, I wasnt pumping the gas also at the point where it all came running out. I througholy cleaned and gapped all the plugs and tried again with a couple bursts of starter fluid in the carb. Still no signs of it even wanting to fire.

The engine is stock with 1bbl carb and 25K miles. It was running fine when I parked it and its kept indoors.

Any suggestions would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

OK. the green tape in this pic shows where the fuel is pouring out. It doesnt do it until I stop cranking. Again, I am not pumping the pedal at all, just cranking with choke closed. I replaced the coil wire with a newer one just in case, but made no difference.

Sounds like float is stuck from debris. Have you checked for spark ?
