I am totally ignorant of 4th gen Novas so I have to ask the experts here, at Steves. Was the 454 an engine option for the 1976 Nova?

Thanks,

Ed

The 454 was never factory installed in a Nova. The largest engine the factory installed was the 396 in 1968, 1969 and 1970 only. However, like others have said, any big block will easily fit a 3rd or 4th gen Nova.

Yes, Nicky Chevrolet did install 454's in 1975 Novas.

Click to read about them from this 1975 Super Chevy article:

I bought a wrecked bone stock 76 ss (in 1986) and on the sticker on the radiator support it said 350-400 ci, so I always wondered if any came with a 400. That is until a few years ago when I discovered Nova Resource on the web. I bet they considered it.
