So, I guess I lucked out on my coupe and have this piece on it. It looked pitted but when I scraped with my fingernail it showed no pitting. It was shiny chrome underneath. Hard to see in the pics. My question is what is the best way to shine this thing up/clean it up. I don't want to use anything that could damage it. I think it will clean up really nice. I think I am going to pull it off the car and crate it up to protect it.
It is covered with a layer of dust that has protected it to this point.

remove it from car place on grass area(soft ) with detergent soap and a bristle brush scrub it real good hose off now use a toothbrush with a little toothpaste and get the little hard to reach area hose it again then take 0000 fine steel wool with a liquid type chrome polish and use a paint stick at an angle to get in the grooves wipe down wash it again then use a diaper to polish the chrome again should come out nice, The one pictured was obtained in that condition and detailed to this :

SEM trim black (most body shops use it for the exterior trim on new cars egg shell finish, The Red is the little cans of dupli color touch up paint in RED. couple art brushes and a few gloves and lacquer thinner , masking tape to do the black paint , artist brush to do the red, ect Joe
