Going tomorrow to look at a original 1966 Nova hood for my second gen. It's about three hours away. Supposed to be dent and rust free. Everybody wish me luck and hopefully it won't be like a 8 hour trip to look at some Impala parts with a friend of mine. He was conversing with a guy in Houston TX that said he had a couple of hoods that came from Arizona. Both were supposed to be in perfect condition. Got all the way over there only to find both were terrible.

If I buy it I won't know until I start stripping it but hopefully it will be better than the one I already have. Now I'm on the look out for a nice set of front fenders.

if this trip doesn't work out for you i know of a very nice 67 hood in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The upside to this hood is that it is local or fairly local. I just hope I'm not disappointed once I get up there or even worse if I get it home and find out it's been caved and paved or have rust covered up with body filler.

good luck, hope its nice and works for you. I'm in Houston and recently went to look at a hood and fenders for a 3rd gen that were in "great shape". All the parts have been sitting in the back yard in grass and dirt for years and the only thing holding them together was the rust

If the hood is in Texas....... stay home and drink beer. I've never got anything in Texas that was not 4 times worst than described. I think Texans believe their own hype about rust free Texas parts. OR it's only Texas rust type nonsense. But, good luck to you.

Good Luck, hope it is a good one. While on the trip be alert to any old cars sitting in yards or under sheds. I'm always looking when I go somewhere. Never know what you might find.

Well, I brought it home but I'm not sure once I get it stripped that it's going to be much if any better than the one I already have. I has one spot that has started bubbling so I'm fairly certain at least one patch panel is in the future. It seems to be OK but I haven't started unpeeling the onion yet.

I wouldn’t mediablast it. I did that to my pristine 67 hood and deck lid and they were warped. Had to source others. Back in the day I could get this hood for about $100 a few years ago I paid midwestnovakings $400 plus shipping. I guess it was worth it.

good luck to you
