Yes, 1965 SS caps had the black paint accent.

B.
The same PN was used in 1968 Camaro SS.

The only difference between this version of the wheel covers and those used on 63-64 Nova SS was the paint color.

The silver painted version was originally used on 1963 Impala SS. GM decided to borrow them from the Impala to be used on the Nova too.

They made the right choice because the Chevelle wheel covers shown on some early advertising looked absolutely hideous on the Nova.

I followed up with him and this is what he told me for the price. "I've seen a set of 4 for $4,000.00 us.. I looked today, nothing for sale, hard to find, waiting for the right price."

He is way way too high. I have bought 2 of these NOS hubcaps.....one I paid $50 US for and $100 US for the other.

I will keep looking and waiting for 2 more reasonable priced one to come up, to make a full set.

Wow, a real dreamer! if you want to do the black paint work, you can change a set of '63 or '64 SS caps into '65. Lots of those around.

To change the silver painted one's to a black '65, what paint would be recommended?

A flat or semi flat black would probably get you close.
