if i drop in a old 283 in my 63chev 2 and pull the 194 do i need a new transmision or will it bolt up ? basicaly im looking at rebuilding my 194 so i have to pull it , now on a budget if i can get a 283 for 400$ or less and rebuild it instead... however if i drop in a 283 and open a entire can of worms like needing a new trans muffler etc... i may as well just stick with the 194 and rebuild . really just weighing my options any thoughts ? sucks to be on a budget what can you do

If you are going to go through the expense of buying, rebuilding, and swapping in a 283, you may want to consider a budget GM 350 crate motor. You are going to be close cost wise.

Ohhhhhhhhh boy

What a can of worms that opens. The longer I live the more I know I don't want to redo it again and the completely new really does the job better!

I have gone the used motor and shoehorned parts and wind up somewhere on the road getting into the tow truck. Yuck! No more for me. I did the 350 crate motor and done. IMO low buck means redo it again. What is the sense in that?
