Ok I think I'm finally about to get a set of wheels and tires ordered. I'm just not completely sure of sizes. I'm not looking for rubber band looks so I'm trying to get taller tires on the rear. Tire choices are limited so it's been tough.

I'm planning on the Vintage Wheel Works V40 wheels. Sizes will be 17" x 8" up front and 18" x 11" in the rear. I'm considering swapping to 7" up front given what I've read about clearances.

Tires:
Nitto nt555 235/45-17 height: 25.3"
Nitto nt555rII 305/35-18 height: 26.3"

Is that gonna luck dumb? I think the front and rear sidewall heights should come out the same given the wheel size differences. I'd much prefer the 295/40-18 Falken rt615k tire for the rear but the vww wheels come in either 9.5" or 11" wide only. Neither of those are good for that tire. I don't want the stretched tire look.

Thanks!

Yes it is mini tubbed. I have a 325/50-15 on a 10" wheel in there now just for mockup since I had them. Ther are extremely tight and rub the outer wheelhouse ever so slightly at full bump. They are 13.1" or so wide. I'm thinking if I can stick to a 12.5" or less width I should be good.

Will it look dumb? No.

You are correct in thinking that the rear will need to be (at minimum) 1" taller in OD than the front, and that the sidewall heights should be the same (or the rear should be greater).
