Ok so I've got a set of headers from dynatech that will not work with the larger flywheel I have for the 400 I'm building where can I find one that'll work on a 400 that has 153 teeth? Thanks !

Bout 15 years ago i bought an externally balanced flywheel for my 406/ M20 combo. Flywheel was made by Weber and i slod it to a member last year...

When I went auto nobody made an externally balanced 153 flexplate soi had my engine balancer add a counterweight to a neutral balance flexplate and that worked great. Same reason as you, header clearance...
Rotating assembly is balanced and I have a Th350
so the engine was balanced with the 168 flexplate, now you're swapping to a 153 with a bolt on weight?

i'd hope it was a quality spec'd part or it could throw the balance out... how much i have no idea just thinking/posting out loud. ;)
The balance plate works great and allows the use of cheaper, easier to find 153 tooth flywheel.Just watch your starter drive engagement. With the plate between the crank and flywheel you will lose almost 1/2 the distance of stock.I used a Hitachi PSL 100 starter and had the aluminum mounting block machined an 1/8" deeper so the drive engaged back to stock spec.Costs peanuts to do this.
If they still don't offer one, I would have one made. I had one made almost 25 years ago when I tried to put a 400 in a 79 Malibu. I would not use a bolt on plate. Have it welded on and it can be balanced to your assembly if you are at that stage.
