ok so i made a thread about my car not starting and staying on when i give it gas...ended up being the carb needing a tuning. now that its just right, my car shakes when i turn it off, pretty violently sometimes. the mechanic (whom i trust with any car) said that its the car trying to keep itself on. now is this a timing issue? i have yet to get my timing fixed because he told me my distributer is old and i should get a new one before bothering with the timing. i just bought a new pcv, air filter, and fuel filter and am going to put in 2morrow. any ideas?

Yup! It's called dieseling. It's related to the timing and continued fuel supply (to a degree).

Turn down the idle speed. If the engine is stock, you may have an idle speed solenoid that's miss adjusted.
