HEY the 3rd generations have a ¼ mile sticky, how about one sticky for all in the DRAG RACING forum?
We should keep it to the car specs and time slip info – maybe the feedback and questions should go on a separate thread so it doesn’t get cluttered.

Thanks a pretty impressive time for what you have. How much power is that 327 putting out? Whats it turning (rpm) at the finish line with those gears?

Changing the heads over to 18 degree Brodix with lots of work done to them and a little bigger cam in the next 2 months and hope to pick up 40-60 more HP. Then plan to hook up the 300 HP fogger and see if I can get the car into the low 8's maybe high 7's. Trying to qualify the car for Super Chevy and big tire PSCA.

Rick, it does take that kind of HP when you are pushing a car that weighs 3,250 lbs without me in it. As for the heads there was extensive hand work done on these heads to include filling on the intake side.

Rick I disagree! I have a 70 Nova that tips the scales around 3190# with me in it and I ran 9.90's and I have right at 750HP give or take a few. Now keep in mind if you have a 2200# full blown drag car then NO it will not take 750HP to run 9's @ 135....that's common sense! I'd like to see you prove how a 3200 or 3250# car can run 9's without 700 or 750HP.....I'll be waiting for your reply......

Here's my reply These ARE Specs. on a 441 B.B. Chevy.,
This engine was dynoed on a Super-Flo engine Dyno. at Gressman Powersports here in Fremont Oh. (Not a desk top dyno figure),

.060 over 427
Huggings solid roller 268-276 @ .050 .687-.693 Lift
12.7 to 1 compression
GM Square-port cyl. heads,
Dart 4150 Intake
APD Alky 750
GM 3/8th's In. rods fitted with ARP Bolts
GM Steel Crank

This Simple little 427 B.B. Chevy Runs 10.40's at 127mph in a 3,600lb. (With driver) Natuarrly aspirated Tubbed out using 32x14.5x15 inch goodyear slicks, Stock front Suspension sitting in-between the Frame-rails of a 1984 Chevy C-10 Shortbed Pickup Truck,

Now cut 400 Lbs. from this truck/and say put it in your Lighter 3,200 lb. Car and you'll see the 3-4 tenths Faster ET. With a MPH Increase in the neighborhood of 4-5 mph IN Short generating 9.90's to low 10.0s at 134-135 mph in a 3,200 lb. Car.,

MPH IS The factor of How much HP your engine is Producing/at the weight.

Truth is,
This engine only Made 637 hp at 6,800 along with 581 Ft. Lbs. of torque at 5,500 on the Super-Flo Dyno.,
Using the Correct Barometric Pressures Logged in from the Fremont Airport/Along with the Correct Altitude Entered in from Same Airport.,

UNLESS this Correct Info. IS Logged in the computer/Dyno. upon making a Pull.,
You CAN Simply enter in ANY Mis-leading Info. and Make a True 500 HP engine Look to produce 700 Mis-leading Horsepower if you'd like it to/But it does look good on paper.,
The 3,600 Lb.+ C-10 Pick-up truck Truck Uses a>>
Coan 5,500 Convertor
Coan Turbo 400
9 Inch ford with 4.56 gears
Is launched off Footbrake,Shifted at 6,500 and sees 6,700 through traps in quarter Mile.,
60 Foot Times are Mid 1.44's,6.50's in Eight Mile at 107-108 Mph along with the Low 10.40's at 126-127 mph.,

This is my old 540 B.B. Combo. it produced a TRUE 813 hp at 7,200 with Torque in the 670 range at 5,900. on Same super-flo engine dyno. used to dyno. My Old 406 in first reply, along with the .060 over 427 mentioned above.

GenVI 502 Block .030 over for a 4.500 inch bore
Eagle Internally balanced 4.250 Stroker Crank
Outa-box Dart Pro 1 345's 2.300-1.900
Eagle 6.385 Length rods
Off the shelf JE/SRP Pistons at 12.5 to1 Compression
Outa-box Dart 4500 Intake/2 In. open spacer
Reed Solid Roller 278-284 at .050 .779-.787 Lift
APD 1250 CFM Alky Dominator.,

This engine when ran in a 2,001 225 WB Spitzer Chassis dragster ran Deadly Consistent Round winning 7.82-7.84's at 168-169 mph.,(This 540 was replaced with a 1,250 TRUE HP 632 Cu. Incher as shown on APD's Web-site,and now is runing in the 6.80's at 201-202 mph),
The 540 was placed in my OLD 72 Buick Skylark Tube Chassis Dragcar at 2,610lbs. (with me aboard) and ran Mid 8.60's at 156-157 mph with 60 Footers in the Mid 1.22-low 1.23 range off transbrake at 4,800 with 5,500 convertor and a BTE Equipped 1.80 Straight cut equipped Powerglide Trans.,

Now,
Say you add say 600 lbs. to the Buick/Or put it in your 3,200 Lb. Nova you'd still be going High 9.teens to Very Low 9.20's in the High 146+ MPH Range with the Same 540 Making 813 hp.,
In short explaining the Not having to have 750+ Hp at 3,200+ Lbs. to produce 9.90's at 135 mph.,

Not at all busting your Guy's Combo's/Cars.,
Just showing you a Couple engines that WERE Actually placed on a engine dyno.,
Along with the CORRECT Info. logged in,And the Times/MPH these engines run at a given weight.
