any problem running the 1.6 ratio rockers on my vortec heads? have the bigger springs installed but dont have screw in studs...found a deal on some,but as usual no deal if there not going to work..should i stick with the 1.5 ratio's...thanks cranker

depends on a couple of things:

1) do you have the piston-to-valve clearance to do it

This depends on the size of the valves, the cam (lift, timing), and if the cam is installed advanced or retarded. Short answer: you gotta measure first, or it could get expensive after the valves hit the pistons.

2) is the resulting lift going to be below the spring bind point

If the heads are basically stock, I *think* the limit is around .475 (don't quote me on that) so your total lift with the 1.6 rockers needs to be less than that.

.525 lift on vortec.
the standard is .500 lift

but I have checked many they all can take .525 lift no problem.

Good question

I just took some brand new 062 Vortecs to have some 2.02 and 1.60 valves installed and purchased some Comp 1417-16 1.52 Rollers. Deciding which cam to get myself. The 268 or 274. I will be running a converter with at least a 2100 install after I rebuild the th350 or step up to an OD tranny.
