Man that is really close to mine: 383/AFR 210, 10.5 compression, Lunati .600 solid roller(255*/263*), Victor Jr. w/2" spacer, 850 Quickfuel carb, 4000 converter and a 4.11 gear.
I haven't ran mine at the track, been driving if for 3 years, it's been ready since I cranked it 3 years ago, I just haven't driven it to down to the track. I know it will run at least a low 11, but should do a little better than that.
Well I have a 3000 stall right now trans and motor ain't in yet I'm thinking going to 3500stall if I were to guess the weight probably 3200 possibly 3300 I don't know what the 74s weighed off the lot but I switched the whole front clip over to 72so impact bumbper stuff is all gone so hard to say but my guess is 3200 3300 don't quote me if someone knows would like to know
My 71 with iron block, aluminum heads, fiberglass hood, aluminum wheels weighed with me(175 lbs.) in it 3475 lbs. and my 72 weighed 3300 lbs. with about the same setup with both cars having bench seats, 3/4 tank of gas, bumper jack/spare tire
I think you need a whole lot more converter stall speed. With a off the shelf 3000-3500 rpm converter, my guess is 11.60's put a good 8 " 5000 stall converter specd to your combination in it with 4.30's and a 28 inch tall tire and it should be around 10.90's
Should go 10's no problem but for it to do that you absolutely will need a quality torque converter that stalls somewhere around 500 RPM over/past peak torque.
Somewhat similar setup that I have in my '74.
Starting line traction is going to be an issue at the track... even with a 255 drag radial.
I'm guessing 11.90's @ 114mph (that's what I've run in the 1/4 with my 400sbc using 255's and thru the exhaust).
If you were to run slicks, I would guess low-mid 11's at around the same mph.
Why would traction at the track be an issue? The times in my sig are on a TNT day with at least 50 street cars there with regular radials.
My Nova (street car) is set up with Calverts and split monos and santhuff spring in front with delum bushings.
Go prepared and it's not an issue.
This is that TNT day,
Notice 4"+ order both front tires.
6 second smokeless burnout on my mt DR et pros
This is very similar to my setup. I went 112 mph and 13.05 on street tires going as fast as I could not spin off the line which resulted in a 2.321 60 foot time Powerglide transmission and not a good stall, 2500.
