too loose in burbank

I have a late model 350 stroker (377 ci) with aftermarket forged crank. All the pilot bearings I have tried seem to fall in until they get about flush - maybe 1/16 inch out. Is this normal and I just need to tap it in some more - and how far in is right. I have been told I need a 1.094 O.D. on...
