deceleration

Hi folks, i'm back with a question if any of you have had a grinding metal on metal sound on deceleration/engine braking. The sound goes away if i put in the clutch and is most audible in first and second, existent in third and i can't hear it in fourth. The car is a 350 1970 nova with a camaro...
