  1. Wheels and Tires
I have 1973 Chevy nova 350, I recently purchased a set of 18x9.5" with 5.25" of backspace and wrapped in 275 40/18 tires for the rear and 18x8 with 4.5" backspace wrapped in 235 40/18 tires for the front. Since this is the first car I've ever worked on, I didn't know about backspace... My...
  2. Steering, Suspension, and Chassis
I have read that you can fit a 255-60-15 rear tire on a 15x7 wheel with 4.5" of backspace, but can you fit that tire size with only 4.125" of backspace without making any modifications?
  3. Steering, Suspension, and Chassis
I am restoring a 1972 nova and plan on installing Cragar s/s mag wheels. The rear wheels are 15x7 with 4.125" backspace. What is the max rear tire size I can fit? I know the rear-end placing was "somewhat" sloppy on third-gen Novas and that every car is different, but does anyone have this same...
  4. 1st & 2nd Generation Chevy II/Nova's
I tried to order a set of Torque Thrust Ds from America's Tire Company today, 15x7 and 15x6, for 225/60/15 and 195/60/15 Comp TA radials. The guy there basically went nuts, telling me he is a Nova guru, and that the stock 3.75" backspace will work just fine. He can have those wheels in a few...

Would the 17x7, 4.25" backspacing fit on a 1st gen stock suspension and what size tires?
  6. 1st & 2nd Generation Chevy II/Nova's
Does anyone know if a 15x7 wheel 195/60/r15 tire will work on the front with a stock five lug conversion or have you experienced clearance issues. If it worked what kind of backspace were you using. Thanks for any input.

Moving leaf spring mounts on 66 Can you move the front and rear leaf spring mounts inward, narrow the rearend and widen the inner wheel wheels to make room for wider tires on a 66. Would I want to? How close together can you put leaf springs so they will still do their job correctly?

I used the Percy's Wheelrite fitment tool to see what I could squeeze into the stock rear wheel wells of my 63 hardtop. For those of you who have checked out the wheel fitment threads before, there are no real surprises here: 15 x 7 with 4.5" backspace, or 15 x 8" with 5" backspace seem...

What size front rims and tires are you running on your 1st gen?

Whats up everyone? My name is Anthony and I'm from South Jersey(Hammonton). I have a 63 Chevy II hardtop. It's got the usual 350/350 combo with a 10 bolt 373. I love this site(just discoverd it by chance and can't stop reading). My question is what is the largest size wheel and tire combo my...
