Very mild stock rebuild, may have a small came and does run headers but has the stock iron 4v intake and Quadrajet. My question is the stock iron intake worth changing to an aluminum? I know its heavier, but would a normal person feel any performance difference w/just an intake swap?

Yes you will feel the difference I would go with a performer manifold and the Qjet. I f you don't use the Qjet no more then 600 cfm . Not enough cam or compression to warrant a bigger carb

I think you may or may not notice it. The manifold will add about 15 hp. It is a decent jump compared to the total hp now. But will you feel it? I think more people BELIEVE they feel it when actually the car is not that much quicker overall. When I was racing my car, the ONLY thing that ever felt different in my car was how well it left the starting line. But to feel a .10 difference in ET I never did and it did that just based on weather for the day.

The biggest things you'll probably notice are throttle response and peak performance. Getting a modern-design aluminum intake manifold (especially one with an air gap below the valley and the runners) will reduce thermally soaking/heating the incoming intake charge, and most units have a better/more efficient plenum design as well.

If you go the extra step and optimize your car jetting in the process, you'll likely be even happier.

carb jetting tips?

I know how to adjust the idle mixture to get peak RPM, but thats about it. On cycles, we used to read plugs or notice flat spots in the RPM range. Can you offer some simple and BASIC tips on how to know and what to do on the Quadrajet that I plan to keep.
