Just wanted to let everyone know that the wheels were developing are now in stock. 5 spoke design, 17x7 with 4.75" backspacing. We can not sell to you direct though as we only sell wholesale to retailers at this time. To order any you can contact Lutty's, Eckler's, Camaro Central, Summit or NPD, as this is a brand new wheel none of those retailers has stock as of yet, you would have to have the retailer of your choice contact us, they will place the order and most likely we would drop ship to you. The wheel is a Legendary wheel, part number LW70-70757B (Charcoal) or LW70-70757C (natural sandblast finish). I can not list any retail pricing here per the site rules you will have to contact one of the vendors for pricing but I can tell you they aren't outrageous.
These wheels were designed specifically for 62-67 novas since finding a 17" rim with a 4.75" backspacing off the shelf is tough, been there, done that.
Attached are a couple of pictures of the wheels on member NovaSS's car, the wheels come with the center cap shown in the pictures.
Mods if I have posted anything against the site rules just let me know and I'll edit it, just trying to get the word out that there is an option for those with early nova's looking for a wheel.
Do the dealers know who you are? If we call a particular vendor, who do we tell them to contact? Do we just give them a part number and they know who to call and how to contact you?
They should know Legendary Wheel and with the part number be able to put the wheels on order but if there are any questions let them know it is a Drake Automotive product.
We just got minilites in stock but they are set up 69-73 Mustangs, the current style is going to have to sell well before I can get the okay on any other styles but if they take off we can look at it if there is enough interest...
If it is all stock I would say 225 in the rear to be safe, car in the pictures is 64SSowner's car, he has a TCI 4 link in the rear, the pictures were taken with 245's and they fit fine but every car is a little different.
Edit: Just want to clarify the wheels are designed to fit with stock suspension. On 64SSowner's car he has a currie rear end at their recommended width. Because his rear end is narrower we needed to add spacers to push the wheels back out into the wheel opening, in his case the wheel has too much back spacing to work as is. Stock suspension this wheel will bolt up.
Just wanted to let everyone know that these wheels are now loaded on Summit's website. I don't want to post a direct link because that has pricing but if you search Summit's website for LW70 you will get the two different color options to show up. These wheels were design with the correct backspacing to fit 62-67 novas.
What lug nuts work with these wheels. Is there a part number for them? I ordered 4 of the clear style today. Thanks for the information about finding them at summit.
The lug nut kit is at Rick's Camaro (Eckler's) part number 33-375485-1. The kit comes with 20 lug nuts and 4 valve stems. Summit does not have the lug nuts loaded on their site yet. If you have any issues just PM me and I'll make sure we get you taken care of.
For 62-67 Chevy II/Nova with stock suspension the 17x7 with 4-3/4" backspacing wheel will work without rubbing and for the 17" diameter is the optimal setup. There are very very few wheels in the market with a 4-3/4" backspacing from the manufacturer in this size and quite a few members on the site have had custom wheels made with the 4-3/4" backspacing because of it. This wheel was design to offer the 1st/2nd gen owners an affordable option that would work for them out of the box.
WaterDog, thank you for posting the caliper dimensions, unfortunately the wheel will not clear the front caliper. Sorry we couldn't be more of a help to you on this one.
Did I miss it, or are these only for the front? What about backspacing for the rear of 1st and 2nd gen cars. Like 5 1/4" backspacing for the rear? Also seeing that they are 1 piece design do you think they "can" they be chromed?
On my 63 convertible 4.75 backspacing is on all 4 wheels with 17 x 7 wheels so it is not just for the front. The front tires are one size narrower than the back . Backtires are 225 fronts 215 width
Car looks great! Shoot me a PM, I'm sure our social media team would love to post some pics of your car on our site. Give me a few days to respond, I'm currently out of the country on business and only get to check in from time to time.
Thanks,
Bob
